VMC1

Usually, mine detectors are metal detectors using electromagnetic induction techniques based on either the continuous wave or the pulse induction principle. Vallon original designs in 1965 were based on the continuous wave technique and since 1983 have employed the pulse induction technique.

Since 2005, Vallon also offers a Dual Sensor Detector, the Minehound™*. This innovative advanced technology detector combines a leading-edge ground penetrating radar (GPR) with a high-performance metal detector (MD). The unit has been designed specifically for use in the most challenging humanitarian demining operations and provides significant improvements in the efficiency of clearance.
The MINEHOUND™, VMR2 is simple to use and provides the operator with clear audio signals to alert the presence of a potential mine threat. When a threat is located, the MD audio provides accurate position information and mass of metal indication. The GPR audio then provides additional position and depth information, and gauges the radar cross-section of the target. Both detectors can be used separately or together. The GPR responds to even the smallest flush buried mine (diameter > 5 cm), but not to smaller metal fragments. This means that metallic clutter such as bullet casings, small arms rounds and shrapnel, which commonly causes false alarms, is rejected by the system.
The GPR also detects zero or minimum metal mines which are normally difficult to locate using metal detection techniques alone.
The MINEHOUND™ VMR2 uses a MD produced by Vallon GmbH (VMH3) and a custom designed 1GHz GPR designed by ERA Technology. The GPR is a time-domain radar transmitting 1 ns duration impulses at a repetition frequency of 1 MHz. A dedicated state-of-the-art DSP processor is used to provide all control and signal processing functions.

All Vallon detectors are high quality products made in Germany and are designed for the very accurate detection of all types of ferrous and non-ferrous metals like metallic mines, plastic mines with minimum metal content, shells, unexploded ordnance, ammunition and other metal objects, even non-metallic housings with the Minehound™, in the ground or in shallow water.

Easy operation and a rigid design ensure reliable operation for professional mine and ordnance clearing.

Vallon metal detectors have a special soil program in order to adapt worldwide the detector to the local soil conditions. The soil program suppresses the undesirable ground effects nearly completely.

Vallon offers foldable (VMC1), comfortable, hand held, land (VMH3, VMH3CS, VMM3) and underwater (MW1630B, VMW1) metal detectors as well as vehicle mounted metal detectors (VMV4, VMV8).

For detection of deeper buried metal objects or in areas where the performance of magnetometers is degraded (e.g. strongly mineralized soils) Vallon offers a hand held metal detector with a large UXO-search head (VMX3). This search head can also be connected as an option to the metal detectors VMH3CS and VMM3.
